Born in Kenya and of German heritage, Hans completed his schooling in South Africa. Following three years at university where he studied science and commerce, Hans was undecided on which career path to take – eventually migrating to Western Australia in 1980 where he accepted a position in Oil and Gas exploration, a role that first exposed him to the dangers of hazardous processes.
A career working throughout Australia followed before Hans set out on his own, establishing a process control company dedicated to representing sophisticated and high-quality manufacturers in Europe and the USA.
In 2000 Hans learned of a workplace fatality at a global company and asked himself this: “How was it that in the 21st Century we are still exposing personnel to risky tasks that could be done by machines?” Identifying that an automated solution was required for a common yet significant process issue, Hans applied his 30+ years’ experience in process control to develop a product that would ensure personnel safety; be field serviceable using conventional tools; allow for accurate and reliable Process Variable Measurement; comply with the most stringent engineering and quality standards; be modular in design and parts; and generate significant financial returns for the operators. The Autorodder was born.
In 2016 Hans launched the Autorodder globally, building relationships within the Chemical, Power, Oil Refining and Mineral Refining sectors, just to name a few.
The challenges of navigating an innovative device through necessary due diligence criteria of reputable global companies are complex yet possible thanks to Hans’ unique understanding of cultural, economic, safety, and engineering standards. Clearguard’s success would not be possible without Hans’ experience, his ability to build enduring relationships with clients worldwide – and the dedicated.
